Aim of Chess
Chess is a two player strategy board game. Is about planning, attack and defense with the opponent. You have to capture opponent’s King without letting them capturing yours. Your aim is to put the opponent’s king in such a position that it can’t escape from your attack. This is called checkmate and we will discuss about checkmate in detail later.
The game chess is played on a chess board. Chess board typically represents a battle field where the opponents fight each other until one of the King is captured in such a way that the king can not escape opponents attack which is called checkmate . The pieces represents various strengths, abilities to move and different style of attack and defense.
The game chess could have probable been derived from the Indian game Chathuranga. The pieces represent different branches of armed forces such as chariots, elephants, horses and infantry.
Chess board setup

Opening of chess game
This is the stage where the pieces are deployed and initial movements for the control of the board are planned and executed. Plethora of chess openings exist.
Middle game in chess
Middle game represents a typical progressed war field including attack defense, gain and losses. Different decisions are taken to defend the territory, to attack the opponents pieces, save own pieces and to gain advantage.
End game in chess
The end game is a stage where critical decisions are taken and is usually characterised by fierce attack or exchange of pieces. While strong player tries to win and the weaker player tries to draw the match.
