The term Scholar’s mate in chess is used to define a checkmate pattern that is obtained using the queen and bishop. This scholars mate can obtained by both white and black pieces.
The squares f7 and f2 are targeted for scholars mate. The queen attacks the square which is supported by the bishop. The king can not attack the queen back since it is supported or the king can not move to other squares. Hence it falls into a checkmate.
